"Call me maybe" para flauta

Hace unos meses, gracias al blog Aula 54 , tuve la oportunidad de conseguir la partitura de "Call me maybe", lo cual fue genial. :) ¡¡Gracias!!

A few months ago, thanks to Aula 54's blog, I had the opportunity to get "Call me maybe" score, wich was great. :) Thanks!!.

Ayer, mis alumnos de 1º de Bachillerato y yo, la interpretamos con flautas dulces acompañadas del piano, y este es el resultado. Espero que os guste.

Yesterday, my students of 1st of Bachillerato and I performed it with piano and recorders and this is the result. I hope you like it.

"Música para los Reales Fuegos artificiales" de Haendel para tres flautas

La "Música para los reales fuegos artificiales" es una suite para banda de viento compuesta por Haendel en 1749 por encargo de Jorge II de Gran Bretaña, para celebrar el fin de la Guerra de Sucesión Austríaca y la firma del tratado de Aquisgrán. El año pasado hubo un proyecto, que finalmente no funcionó y, en el blog de Diegosax, Toca Partituras, encontramos este arreglo para tres flautas.

The "Music for the Royal Fireworks" is a wind band suite composed by Haendel in 1749 under contract of George II of Great Britain, to celebrate the end of the War of the Austrian Succession and the signing of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, the previous year (more info at  Music for the Royal Fireworks). Last year there was a project, which finally didn't work and in the blog of Diegosax, Toca Partituras (Play Scores), we could find this arragement for three recorders.

I hope you like it. To play three melodies at the same time, we need to listen to the other voices and trust the conductor and what she/he ask for. That's very important. As usual, you can share your comments. :) 

"Clocks" de Coldplay para flauta y piano

Esta va a ser una entrada cortita, para mostrar lo que mis alumnos de 2º de Bachillerato son capaces de hacer. Hoy han interpretado "Clocks", de Coldplay, tras un solo día de ensayo. He utilizado una partitura que encontré en internet y la he modificado un poco (añadiendo más voces). El resultado es lo que podéis ver. Espero que os guste.

This is a short podcast to show what my students of 2nd of Bachillerato are able to do. Today, only after one day of rehearsing, they have performed "Clocks", by Coldplay. I have used a score I found on the Internet and I had modified it a little bit. The result is what you can see. Hope you like it.

Quiero decirles a mis alumnos que estoy muy orgullosa del esfuerzo que han realizado. Sois grandes intérpretes. :)

I want to say to my students that I'm very proud of their effort. You're great performers. :)

Bandas sonoras: La vida es bella

 Mucha gente considera que las bandas sonoras son la nueva "música clásica". Tengo que decir que prefiero el término "música culta". Se parecen en muchas cosas: se interpretan con orquesta, la duración de las piezas es larga y el uso de los instrumentos es bastante similar al que hace la "música clásica". De todos modos, es una importante parte del currículum en la asignatura de Música.
Many people consider soundtracks musica as the new "classical music". I have to say I'd rather use the term "highbrow music" In many ways, they're quite alike: they are played by orchestras, the duration of the plays is long and the use of instruments is pretty similar to the way they're used on "Classical Music". Anyway, it's an important part of our curriculum in the subject of "Music". 

Por este motivo, mis alumnos han empezado a tocar bandas sonoras con la flauta. Les encanta y las aprenden rápidamente porque ya conocen la melodía y el ritmo. ¡¡Todos ganamos!!

For this matter, my students have started to play soundtracks with the recorder. They really love them and they learn it quickly because they already know the melody and the rhythm. It's win-win!!.

La banda sonora que he elegido es la de la película "La vida es bella" una bonita historia sobre amor, familia y diversión en medio de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Aquí os pongo el trailer, por si no la conocéis:

The soundtrack I chose was the one who's played in "La vida es bella", a beautiful movie about love, family and fun in the middle of World War II. Here you have the trailer, in case you don't know it:

I'm sorry I couldn't add the score, but it was one from the book and it doesn't have creative commons licence so... :(

Edelweis para dúo de flautas

Aunque nos habíamos apuntado al proyecto colaborativo Flautateka hace algún tiempo, ningún alumno se había atrevido, aún, a poner ningún pods.

Although we were in Flautateka's project for a while, there wasn't any student who dared to pods anything.

Harta de que me mojaran la oreja mis compañeros, aquí hacemos nuestra inauguración, con un dúo de flautas interpretando "Edelweis", una canción de la banda sonora de "Sonrisas y lágrimas". ¿Conocéis la película?. Por si acaso no, aquí os dejo la canción original.

Tired of my partners mocking me, here we start our participation, with a duet of recorders playing "Edelweis", a song which belongs to "The sound of Music" soundtrack. Do you know the movie?. In case you don't, here you have the original song. 

Os animo a ver la película. Es preciosa tanto a nivel cinematográfico como a nivel musical.

I encourage you to see the movie. It's beautiful not only as a piece of movie but as a music work.

Y aquí os presento a Andrés y Darío tocando esa canción pero a dúo de flautas. Ni que decir tiene que, para tocar juntos, hay que encontrar un pulso común y ensayar mucho. El trabajo que han hecho es estupendo. Os dejo aquí el vídeo de youtube porque el que hay en Flautateka tiene una calidad inferior al haberlo tenido que reducir de tamaño.

And here I introduce you Andrés and Darío, playing this song for recorder duet. To play together, you have to find a common pulse and practice a lot.  The work they've done is great. Here you have a youtube video because the one in Flautatateka has an inferior quality in order to reduce the size.

Todos los alumnos sabéis que podéis participar y que tendréis una recompensa en la nota. Además, os animo a que dejéis vuestros comentarios en las interpretaciones de los alumnos de otros centros que tocan. ¡Son todos muy artistas! Aviso, además, que aunque este pods en Flautateka lo he puesto yo (para ir a la página enlazad a la derecha de este blog), los próximos tendréis que hacerlos vosotros (tanto grabación como pods). Tenéis el ejemplo de muchos compañeros que lo están haciendo ya.

From now on, the podcasts in Flautateka will have to be done by you (not like this one, which I made). Many of your collegues are already doing it.
